Scottish Natural Heritage Photography Commissions
I was contracted by SNH (Scottish Natural Heritage), Scotlands government body charged with environmental protection, to photograph the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve (NNR) in Wester Ross. The Reserve celebrated its 50th birthday in 2001, and has the distinction of being the first NNR designated in the United Kingdom. I worked on a year-long commission from SNH to record the Isle of Rum during 2004. Lying off the west coast of Scotland, the island is remote and rugged, with only a few human inhabitants. This brought considerable logistical and physical challenges, which made the job interesting and difficult! The brief was similar to the Beinn Eighe job (above) but this time I was co-working with well-known natural history photographer Laurie Campbell. See details and pictures here.
