Current work: * Featured Guest Photographer - as a way of encouraging young photographers who may have no web site of their own, I have dedicated some space on my website to allow selected talented individuals to display their work. I am really happy to be able to display the work of Rhona MacKinnon, from Harris in the Western Isles. Go here for a visual feast! * Wild Media Foundation is created! This is a collaborative venture with several well-known photographer colleagues. It's an exciting multi-disciplinary undertaking that aims to communicate the stories about science and the environment to the public. Read all about it here. * Workshops - I am co-leading photography workshops at various times during the year with Peter Cairns for Northshots, based in the Cairngorms National Park. Join us if you'd like to! * Books - The latest photographic book I've completed for Birlinn, 'Mull & Iona' was launched in An Tobar Gallery on Mull, and joins 'Unknown Hebrides' and 'The West Highlands' in their series of Scottish titles. * Documentary work - I am working on a long-term documentary project to record aspects of life in small rural coastal and island communities on the west coast of Scotland. The main focus of this work is the role which the ocean plays in everyday life, and in particular the work of inshore fishermen, and the political and environmental pressures that threaten this fragile way of life. See some images here and here. * Dolphins - Ongoing work to record some of the exciting activity of the Moray Firth bottlenose dolphins continues. The past summer was unusual with 'normal' activity disrupted by strange weather and (possibly related) altered prey movements, but I was able to get some dramatic images of hunting and breaching. | ||
