A spell of unseasonably warm weather in late February attracted surfers to enjoy the delights of the north coast near Thurso in Caithness. Despite the warm sun the water was icy! I was struck by the contrast between the Dounreay nuclear reactor on the skyline, now in the process of being decommissioned, and the sheer power contained in the renewable energy of the waves the surfers were enjoying.
