Birch, Glenfinnan

This lone birch was catching the sun as it spilled over a ridge. The surrounding landscape is not sunlit but illuminated by the light from the blue sky, contrasting with the sunlit frosted birch. Some of the light reflected downwards by the tree's branches illuminates the ground directly below the tree. Scenes such as this are fleeting and rare.
